NHCA Employers Health Insurance Consortium
Today, long-term care services of all sizes face significant challenges when it comes to providing employees with affordable health insurance. The Nebraska Health Care Association is proud to offer its members a new, affordable health insurance option, the NHCA Employers Health Insurance Consortium.
This consortium consists of multiple employers, with NHCA membership, pooled together to act as a single, large employer-base. The consortium’s combined sized allows employers to obtain affordable health insurance coverage on terms like those currently available only to large employers.
Potential advantages of joining the consortium include:
Affordability
Through the economies of scale and spread of risk gained during the pooling process, employers are better positioned to obtain more affordable health insurance coverage.
Flexibility
Each employer in the consortium has the option to select the type of health plan or plans that work best for your employees.
Rate Stability
The NHCA’s goal is to create and encourage a stable community of employers who participate in the consortium. A stable group decreases the size and likelihood of rate fluctuations from year-to-year.
Availability to Family Members
In addition to staff, employers in the consortium may offer family and dependent coverage to their employees.
Blue Cross Blue Shield Selected as Carrier
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska is the insurance carrier for the consortium. As previously stated, each employer has the option to select between several different health plan types. There are seven benefits packages to choose from in the NHCA Employers Health Plan Consortium. Each employer can offer their employees up to two plans. Employers will also have the option to select “narrow networks” to achieve additional savings.
